Reach for the K! Apply to the Advance-K Scholar Career Development Program

About the Program

The Advance-K Scholar Career Development Program aims to train the next generation of clinical and translational researchers to conduct rigorous and reproducible science and prepare successful mentored career development award (CDA) applications that will ultimately advance health in Rhode Island and beyond.

This yearlong, intensive program trains highly qualified junior investigators on how to write a competitive NIH K award or equivalent by the conclusion of the program. Scholars receive both individualized and group training, which includes: 

  • Development of a mentorship team
  • Individual meetings with the Advance-K leadership team
  • Project development support
  • Grantsmanship training and advice
  • Internal Study Section Review of the final draft proposal

The program is open to all faculty members at Brown, URI, and the affiliated hospital systems. Up to 10 Scholars are selected annually to participate in the program. 

Important Dates

July 31, 2024 from 1 - 2 pm: Pre-application information webinar given by Leadership | Zoom link

August 26, 2024: Complete applications are due

September 23-26, 2024: Possible phone interviews

September 30, 2024: Notification of acceptance
