Assistant Dean for Research Administration and Strategic Initiatives in the Division of Biology and Medicine at Brown University

Biography

Francie Emlen is the Assistant Dean for Research Administration and Strategic Initiatives in the Division of Biology and Medicine at Brown University. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Business Administration from New York University.

Prior to joining Brown, Francie worked in healthcare administration at New York City-based organizations. Specializing in cancer care operations and strategic planning, she understands the importance of weaving community needs to science discoveries, new medical interventions, and ultimately better outcomes for the community.

As Assistant Dean, Francie provides strategic and operational leadership to drive growth and service excellence for the Division’s research portfolio and basic science operations. She oversees the full complement of research administration support services, sponsored project proposals, compliance, and award funds. Francie is also responsible for developing and enhancing processes and procedures to facilitate research across the Division.
