About the Program
The Advance-K Scholar Career Development Program aims to train the next generation of clinical and translational researchers to conduct rigorous and reproducible science and prepare successful mentored career development award (CDA) applications that will ultimately advance health in Rhode Island and beyond.
This yearlong, intensive program trains highly qualified junior investigators on how to write a competitive NIH K award or equivalent by the conclusion of the program. Scholars receive both individualized and group training, which includes:
- Development of a mentorship team
- Individual meetings with the Advance-K leadership team
- Project development support
- Grantsmanship training and advice
- Internal Study Section Review of the final draft proposal
The program is open to all faculty members at Brown, URI, and the affiliated hospital systems. Up to 10 Scholars are selected annually to participate in the program. Members of under-represented racial and ethnic groups and candidates with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
