Biography
Susan E. D’Andrea, Ph.D., is a biomedical engineer specializing in musculoskeletal biomechanics. Previously, Dr. D’Andrea was a researcher at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio and has held faculty positions at Brown University, Barry University, Florida International University and Cleveland State University. She held the position of Director of Clinical Research at Afferent Corporation, a small startup company in Rhode Island and served as the Director of Virtual Reality and Motion Analysis Rehabilitation Laboratory at the Providence VA Medical Center. Dr. D’Andrea has worked in the field of musculoskeletal biomechanics for the past 20 years has experience in pediatric gait, amputee gait, running biomechanics, balance and posture, stroke and neuromotor control. She has worked on projects funded from NASA, National Institute of Health (NIH), the Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Veterans Affairs as well as industry sponsored projects. Dr. D’Andrea received her bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Connecticut, a masters degree in bioengineering from Clemson University and a doctorate in biomedical engineering from the Ohio State University.
