The Unified Research data Sharing and Access (URSA) Initiative was launched in 2015 with the overall goal of making electronic health data accessible and usable for research purposes across Rhode Island. Through the URSA Initiative, the Advance RI-CTR BIBCE Core helps researchers navigate the process of identifying options and solutions for obtaining, storing, managing, and analyzing data from health data partners or other data sources. This includes coordination with information services, compliance, legal, and research offices at Brown University and health data partners across Rhode Island (e.g., Care New England, Brown University Health, Rhode Island Department of Health, and Rhode Island Quality Institute).

The National COVID Cohort Collaborative (N3C) is an open-science community focused on analyzing patient-level data from many clinical centers to reveal patterns in COVID-19 patients. These harmonized data are stored and made accessible to researchers in the secure N3C Data Enclave. Advance RI-CTR is part of the IDeA-CTR N3C Consortium for contributing data, collaborating on projects, and engaging and educating researchers across IDeA-CTR sites.

REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture) is a secure web application that serves as an electronic data capture tool for research studies. REDCap allows users to build and manage online surveys and databases quickly and easily. Advance RI-CTR offers a statewide REDCap instance and training for collaborative research across Rhode Island.
